Lyse Blanchet

Lyse is a professional engineer with an MA in Wood Science and Technology from Laval University. Lyse has over 40 years of experience in the conservation of historic structures including 32 years with the Government of Canada - PWGSC as senior conservation engineer advisor and team leader for the conservation of federal heritage buildings, world heritage sites, and national historic sites of Canada. Her specialties are identifying structural systems and assessing their behavior and reliability, developing specialized training and R&D Projects for traditional materials, including “Modelling of Traditional Timber Joints”, “Evaluation of NDT for Wood”, “Guidelines for the use of Mortars in Historic Structures”, “Establishment of the Life Cycle and Risk Assessment of Historic Timber Structures”, and “Development and Update of the National Master Specifications in Conservation”. She is an accomplished lecturer with attendance at international conferences and symposium.
