Willowbank

The farmhouse at 850 Lakeshore Road in Niagara-on-the-Lake is a vernacular single storey structure with a three bay façade and gable roof, built in the early nineteenth century. The property would have included outbuildings, none of which remain today. The house is situated quite far back, about 185 feet and at an angle to the current road. The building was more recently used as an office for Holland Nurseries and the interior has been extensively altered, although remnants of trim and materials found offer clues to the original interior.

There have been at least two one and a half storey additions to the north elevation of the original hand hewn timber framed house, at least the first of which is timber framed as well. The first addition replaces what was likely a verandah at the back entrance where there is evidence of a previous roof line. The farmhouse, including the two additions, is clad in weatherboard under the current plaster rendered surface.
