Applications were invited from the Niagara area, and five highly qualified candidates were chosen out of almost thirty applicants. Natalie Whidden, Tom Panasiak, Sherri Koabel, Jessica Butt and Sarah Selah Fraser shared a combination of academic interests and artistic skills, and were able to contribute to the design of the program as it evolved over the summer. Shelley Bench, recent Willowbank graduate, served as their mentor – she has extraordinary skills in both technical drawing and photography. Sean Young, who has a habit of patrolling the back roads of the Niagara region looking out for abandoned farmhouses and other historic relics, compiled the base list of properties at risk.
