The Willowbank School of Restoration Arts is achieving national and international prominence as a centre of excellence in the evolving field of heritage conservation and cultural resource management. Our emphasis is the revitalization of historic places.

We move beyond building exteriors and interiors to embrace historic landscapes, archaeological sites, heritage districts, and the intangible rituals and traditions that bring historic places to life. We teach traditional skills and craftsmanship, and we also show how these skills can be applied to contemporary design and construction in historic settings.

We use a cultural landscape framework, with its ecological perspective and its acceptance of change.

The School uses its magnificent setting as an important laboratory for conservation debate and practice.

Field projects involve other historic sites in the culturally-rich Niagara region and further afield.
