TERM EMPLOYMENT

Some term employment opportunities become available during the school year, related to contracts negotiated by the Willowbank Centre for Cultural Landscape. Other employment opportunities are arranged by Willowbank but are self-directed with mentoring by Willowbank.

Two students in 2011-12 are receiving payment for work on a research project for the National Capital Commission in Ottawa. Other projects will create additional contracts in 2012.

Third-year students are referred to both unpaid and paid internship opportunities during their independent work terms. A majority of the current third-year class has been involved in paid interships in 2011-2012. Previous paid internships have involved projects on significant historic sites both in Canada and abroad.

SUMMER EMPLOYMENT

Willowbank assists first and second-year students in finding paid summer employment. Most students find work in an area related to their interests, with some choosing to stay in the Niagara region and others travelling to other parts of Canada or the U.S., or abroad.

Recent postings have been in Niagara, Hamilton, Toronto, Philadelphia, Ottawa, Montreal, Newfoundland, and Tokyo.

Students are also eligible to apply to the Willowbank Summer Documentation Program, a six-week paid internship in May and June. Students document buildings at risk in the Niagara on the Lake area.
