The cultural landscape framework provides a dynamic rather than static approach to understanding significant urban, rural and wilderness settings, and connects cultural and natural heritage concerns to broader design and development issues.

ADVOCACY

The Centre acts as an advocate for changes in the design and development industry in Canada and internationally. This advocacy is in support of a more integrative approach to planning, design, consultant selection, bidding practices, project management, project implementation, the integration of traditional and contemporary skills, and the application of sustainability measures. It also acts as an advocate for significant changes to education, training, accreditation, and the positioning of the design and building professions within a legal, economic and cultural framework.

This advocacy role is central to the Centre and its place within the paradigm shift currently affecting so many of the players responsible for the shaping and reshaping of our human habitats.
